This LTA is advisory in nature due to the increased general aviation activity in the vicinity of KCHS. To reduce TCAS Resolution Advisories and the growing conflict with VFR to IFR aircraft on final approach to Charleston International Airport, please reference the following:

Pilots are reminded to check the KCHS ATIS (124.75) for situational awareness to determine what finals are in use at Charleston International Airport. Also, it is suggested when West of CHS to monitor approach on 120.7 and East of CHS on 121.27 to the maximum extent possible. Please abide by Class C restrictions for KCHS. In addition, the following procedures are suggested:

1)    JZl: Charleston Executive Airport is directly under two final approaches for Charleston International Airport, Runway 33 and Runway 03. Aircraft are regularly over JZI at 3,000 MSL, including heavy aircraft. If not receiving ATC traffic advisories, it is suggested to maintain at or below 2,000 MSL when in an area 3NM North, 3NM South, 8NM East, or 8NM West of the JZI airport. This will ensure no conflicts with the IFR aircraft overflying at 3,000 MSL.

 2)     DYB/MKS: Summerville Airport and Berkeley County Airport are directly under two final approaches for Charleston International Airport, Runway 15 and Runway 21. Aircraft are regularly over DYB and MKS at 3,000 MSL, including heavy aircraft. If not receiving ATC traffic advisories, it is suggested to maintain at or below 2,000 MSL when in an area 3NM North, 5NM South, 3NM West of DYB, 3NM East of MKS to encompass that area between the two airports as indicated in the photograph below. This will ensure no conflicts with the IFR aircraft overflying at 3,000 MSL.
