Southern California TRACON Letter to Airmen: LTA-SCT-78
****Expired****

Subject: Pacific Airshow 2024, Huntington Beach, CA TFR's

Cancellation: 10/06/2024 1200 (UTC)

This Letter to Airmen is intended to clarify flight procedures regarding the Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) established for The Pacific Airshow, Huntington Beach, CA, October 01, 03-06 2024. This is a major outdoor public event, with high performance aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will issue two TFRs in accordance with Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations, § 91.145.

Due to the Airshow TFR configurations and the proximity to the Disneyland Theme Park Security TFR (FDC 4/3635) and the potential for Anaheim Stadium TFRs (FDC 1/2403), traffic circumnavigating TFR airspace is expected to result in a higher density of traffic in the airspace outside and adjacent to the TFRs. Pilots are encouraged to remain vigilant and fly with their landing lights on to enhance the visibility of their aircraft.

Access to Airshow TFR airspace will be limited to those aircraft pre-authorized as airshow participants or aircraft specifically authorized by and in communications with ATC for transit of the airspace.

NOTAM information listed below:

  • Pilots are strongly encouraged to check NOTAMs prior to the airshow, as events may occur requiring changes to airspace or effective hours.
  • Information regarding the status of The Great Pacific Airshow TFRs will be available online at http://tfr.faa.gov or from Leidos Flight Service.
  • Authorization to operate in a TFR is NOT authorization to operate in Los Angeles Class B Airspace, and a clearance into Los Angeles Class B Airspace is NOT authorization to enter any TFR.
  • CAUTION: FAA strongly encourages pilots to comply with the Code of Federal Regulations applicable to the Temporary Flight Restrictions. Pilots who enter the TFR airspace without ATC permission will be referred to FSDO as a possible Pilot Deviation.

The FAA has worked closely with The Pacific Airshow personnel to minimize the impact of this TFR on Southern California aviators. Compliance with these rules will ensure the safety of the airshow, provide reasonable access to airspace for all pilots, and greatly reduce TFR violations. If you have any questions on this matter, please call William E. Woods, Los Angeles District Airspace and Procedures Manager, at (858) 537-5830.
