New York TRACON Letter to Airmen: LTA-N90-111

Subject: : WESTCHESTER COUNTY AIRPORT (HPN) NORTHEAST BOUND VFR DEPARTURES

Cancellation: 01/12/2026 0000 (UTC)

BACKGROUND:  The purpose of this letter is to provide information to VFR departures from HPN to points northeast.

INFORMATION:  Traffic departing HPN, climbing above 3,000’ for points northeast, should be aware that this is a busy arrival corridor for LaGuardia (LGA) Airport.  There are two arrival routes from Boston Center to LGA.

      1.  HAARP Arrival (LGA):  Turbojet aircraft navigate via Deer Park (DPK) 338° radial to HAARP intersection, then intercept LGA 044° radial direct LGA.  Aircraft will start descending out of 8,000’ in the vicinity of Mt. Kisco for 4,000’ by Port Chester.

       2. NOBBI Arrival (LGA): Turboprop aircraft enter New York TRACON airspace via NOBBI intersection, then proceed via Carmel VOR (CMK) to RYMES intersection, V123 to HAARP intersection, then CRALY intersection V123 to LGA.  Aircraft begin a descent from 8,000’ north of RYMES intersection to be at 4,000’ by Port Chester.

It is imperative that all pilots departing HPN be aware of the presence of possible heavy concentrations of commercial aircraft operating north and east of HPN.

Traffic Advisory Service will be provided to the extent possible to those pilots departing HPN Airport.  Pilots are encouraged to avail themselves of this service by contacting New York TRACON on frequency 126.4, to make known their positions and altitude.
