Subject: 2023 KBUF 5/23 Runway Construction Project

Cancellation: 08/31/2023 1200 (UTC)

Beginning 8 MAY 2023, Buffalo International Airport (KBUF) runway 5/23 will be closing for runway construction.  The 2023 phase of the project will involve resurfacing the runway from approximately the intersection of Taxiway "E" Northeast to the approach end of Runway 23. 5/23 will be closed through most if not all of the summer months. The runway re-opening date will be determined based of progress of the project.

The ILS systems for both 5/23 will be shut down for the duration of the construction project.

Leading up to the start of the major construction project, there will be multiple closures of 14/32 and/or 5/23 to prepare for larger scale construction.

Reference current NOTAMs for taxiway and runway closures throughout the construction.

Aircraft flying into, out of, or performing pattern work at Lancaster Airport (BQR) or Buffalo Airfield (9G0) should be extra cautious for the significantly increased traffic operating on runways 14/32.
