To ensure safe operations at Friedman Memorial Airport (KSUN), timely communication changes to Hailey Tower, after ZLC ARTCC issues the frequency change, are crucial. KSUN’s geographical location necessitates constant opposite direction operations (ODO). Late frequency changes can cause delayed departures which will decrease ODO safety margins.  Additionally, Hailey Tower cannot confirm aircraft position until they are contacted, therefore late frequency changes may result in Hailey Tower being unable to issue timely traffic/safety alerts when necessary.
