Subject: Practice Approaches

All VFR aircraft conducting practice approaches at the following airports will be provided standard IFR separation by Greer Approach Control. Controller responsibility for separation begins at the point where the approach clearance becomes effective. Requests for practice approaches should be made on the approach control frequencies shown below:

AIRPORT      FREQUENCY

Greenville/Spartanburg International (GSP) – 118.8 (West) 119.4 (East)

Greenville Downtown – 118.8 (West) 119.4 (East)

Donaldson Field (GYH) - 118.8 (West) 119.4 (East)

Spartanburg Downtown (SPA) - 119.4

This program does not relieve pilots of their responsibilities to see and avoid other traffic operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). It will, however, enhance safety by providing separation from other VFR aircraft making practice instrument approaches, and from those aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) in the terminal area. It is the pilot’s responsibility to advise Greer Approach Control when the instrument approach is complete.
