Subject: Practice Instrument Approach Separation

Cancellation: 07/02/2019 1200 (UTC)

In an effort to achieve a more organized, safe and controlled operation, Jacksonville Approach Control (JAX) will provide standard separation to VFR aircraft practicing instrument approaches at the following airports, during the times the respective control tower is operational:

JAX Jacksonville lnternational..............................119.0/269.9

CRG Jacksonville Executive at Craig......................12 4.9/308.4

VQQ Cecil..........................................................127.77/377.07

GNV Gainesville Regional....................................1. 18.175/338.25

OCF Ocala Intl/Jim Taylor Field............................118.6/251.15

SGJ St. Augustine/Northeast Florida Regional.........120.75/379.9

Request for practice approaches should be made on the associated frequencies.

Please be reminded that even though the controller may be providing separation, pilots on VFR flight plans are required to comply with basic Visual Flight Rules.

Controller responsibility for separation begins at the point where the approach clearance becomes effective. Except for heavy or super aircraft, 500 feet vertical separation may be applied between VFR aircraft and between VFR and IFR aircraft. Controller responsibility for separation ends at the Missed Approach Point, unless the published missed approach is specifically requested and approved.

This Letter to Airmen replaces Jacksonville Tower Letter to Airmen LTA-JAX-5, dated February 22, 2017.
