Subject: Practice Approaches
Cancellation: 09/14/2019 1200 (UTC)
VFR aircraft conducting practice instrument approaches at the following airport will be provided standard IFR separation by Tampa Approach Control:
Tampa International Airport (TPA), Frequency 118.5 MHz.
To the maximum extent possible, VFR aircraft conducting practice instrument approaches to the following airports will be provided standard IFR separation by Tampa Approach Control during published operational hours of their respective control towers:
St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport (PIE), Frequency 125.3 MHz.
Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), Frequency 119.65 MHz.
Albert Whitted Airport (SPG), Frequency 125.3 MHz.
Lakeland Linder Regional Airport (LAL), Frequency 119.9 MHz.
Except for super or heavy aircraft, 500 feet vertical separation may be applied between VFR aircraft and between a VFR and an IFR aircraft.
Controller responsibility for appropriate separation begins at the point where the approach clearance becomes effective and ends at the Missed Approach Point, unless the published missed approach is specifically requested and approved.
Aircraft requesting a procedure turn or a holding pattern for training purposes should make that request on initial contact with Tampa Approach.
This program does not relieve pilots of their responsibility to see and avoid other aircraft. It will, however, enhance safety by providing separation from other VFR aircraft making practice instrument approaches and from those operating under IFR in the terminal area.
