Subject: Establishment of Class D Airspace at Houston Executive Airport (TME)

On September 22, 2016, the Final Rule was published establishing Class D airspace at TME effective November 10, 2016. The Class D airspace extends upward from the surface to and including 2,500 feet MSL bounded by a line beginning at lat. 29 51’55”N., long. 95 58’06”W., to lat. 29 47’35”N., long. 95 55’49’W., to lat. 29 51’55”N., long. 95 55’52”W., thence clockwise along the 4-mile radius of Houston Executive Airport (lat.29 48’18”N., long. 95 53’52”W.) to the point of beginning. The Class D airspace is effective during Houston Executive Air Traffic Control Tower hours of operation (0600-2200 LCL).
During periods outside of Houston Executive Air Traffic Control Tower operational hours, the subject airspace reverts to Class E Airspace.
Class E airspace is amended as follows: That airspace extending upward from 700 feet above the surface within a 6.6 mile radius of Houston Executive airport (lat.29 48’18”N., long. 95 53’52”W.).
The TME Class D and E Airspace is not published on the current Houston Sectional and Terminal Area Charts, however the airspace is published in the Chart Supplement, South Central U.S., dated 10 November 2016. The Class D airspace is expected to be published on VFR charts, March 2, 2017.
Letter to Airmen , LTA-I90-4, dated October 6, 2016 concerning Air Traffic Services waiver of 14-CFR Part 91.126(d), waiver for communication requirements prior to operating within 4 nautical miles of the Air Traffic Control Tower at TME in Class G airspace, is hereby canceled.
All Pilots are reminded to comply with 14-CFR Part 91.129 (d), Operations in Class D airspace, and establish two-way communications with TME Air Traffic Control Tower prior to entering the TME Class D airspace.
